Unable to set default navigation app

I rely on Google Maps for work-related travel. Apple Maps has repeatedly redirected me to incorrect locations, even when the address is entered correctly in Google Calendar.

For example: I had a shoot scheduled at 67 Rue du Sommet, Saint-Hippolyte, QC, which was correct in my calendar. When I tapped the address, Apple Maps opened through a browser and redirected me to 69 Rue du Sommet, Morin-Heights, QC, a completely different municipality. This caused a delay of over 30 minutes in starting my session.

Apple Maps appears to modify or misinterpret correct address data when opening links, which makes it unsuitable for professional navigation needs. This directly affects my customer's experience and the reliability of my service (delays, scheduling disruptions)...

Has anyone else experienced the same situation?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 26

I don't use Apple Maps for the same reason as you - it can't find addresses and businesses that other maps can.

The title of your post says you are unable to set the default navigation app. If you mean that Apple apps - like Contacts - default to Apple Maps then you can't change that. If you want to use other maps then either open them directly in your browser or use their maps app on your devices. I use my iPhone and CarPlay for navigation in my car and other navigation apps are available.

You have posted in the Mac forum but the equipment line at the bottom of your post indicates an iPhone. Can you clarify which device you're asking about?

If you're asking about iPhones, iOS doesn't offer the ability to set a default mapping app. Have you tried deleting Apple Maps?

To be honest, there are limitations in Apple's Maps application

Apple has not mapped every location unlike Google which does a better job at mapping

I do see what you mean though

When I use only " 67 Rue du Sommet " in the Maps application using macOS 26.2 Tahoe

Refer to below image

I see 9 locations but none of them are located in " Saint-Hippolyte, QC, "

You may consider using Goole Maps or whatever works best for you
