Do I need to download a new version of Numbers on my iMac?

There is a new updated version you can download if you want.

The current app will no longer be updated, but it will continue to work on the current macOS version. It is unknown at this time whether it will work on newer versions of macOS in the future though. So while you don't have to update to the new version right now, it will probably be inevitable in the future.

Every time you start the old version it will nag you about installing the new version until you finally give up and do it.

No, but you won't get any new features or bug fixes if you don't.

Has not been the case here. Still have the un-updated version of Numbers and Pages, and have not seen a single nag after the initial one on either app when I open them.
