Hard time knowing what is loading from CD into Apple Music

Does anyone have the same difficulty loading CDs of music into Apple Music. The interface has changed for me since moving to Tahoe 26.2. I really preferred the was it was before, at least I had a sense of what was going on.Music does not seem to read or give feed back on the song on the CD, at least I cannot see the loading.

Is there a way to go back to High Sierra for just Apple Music?

iMac 27″, macOS 26.2

Sorry, not really.

Your tag line says that you have a 27" iMac. The only models of those that are compatible with Tahoe are the final ones, from 2020. They originally shipped with macOS 10.15.6 (Catalina), and so cannot run any of the versions of macOS that supported the iTunes application – at least, not as "dual boot" operating systems.

I don't know if you could run High Sierra inside of a virtual machine, but even if you could, that wouldn't be a very good solution. You'd have all the overhead of running two copies of macOS at the same time. You might run into problems trying to synchronize music to an iPhone or iPad – especially if Apple decided to drop support for using High Sierra for that purpose (the way they've already dropped support for using El Capitan and Sierra). Also, this would not work with your next Mac, as Apple Silicon Macs cannot run Intel-based OSes in virtual machines.

You're just going to need to live with Tahoe (and to see if there is any way In Music > Settings…) to customize the user interface a bit. I'm not on Tahoe yet, so don't know what might be there, if anything.)

Thank you for the reply. I will check into the Settings for Music. I would have replaced my iMac, but I am used to the larger display, and will wait until it is available again, if that ever happens as a secondary problem is running out of memory. Six years is a long time to keep the same item.

When Apple discontinued the 27" 5K Retina iMac, they simultaneously introduced the first Mac Studios and the 27" 5K Apple Studio Display.

The closest thing to a 27" 5K Retina iMac these days is a combination of

  • A M4 Mac mini, M4 Pro Mac mini, or M4 Max Mac Studio
  • A 27" 5K Apple Studio Display
  • An Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse

Unfortunately, by the time you pay for that display, and for the keyboard and mouse, you've spent money which would have once gotten you a 27" 5K Retina iMac - except that you still have to buy the computer!

There are now some third-party 27" 5K displays which may cost less than the Apple Studio Display. But a lot of people have settled for less sharp, but significantly less expensive, 27" 4K displays.

Keep in mind that while RAM is expandable on your 27" iMac, it is not expandable on any Apple Silicon Mac – including even the $6999+ Mac Pro desktop minitower / rack mount computer. You must order all the RAM that you need at the time that you get the computer, as there is no way to add RAM later.
