The Pages equation editor is restricted in its LaTeX/MathML syntax support. It accepts what is documented in the blahtex manual that you can obtain from the following article:
About LaTeX and MathML support in Pages, Numbers, and Keynote - Apple Support
Copy/pasting from another equation source such as MathType (subscription) or Overleaf (subscription) may introduce unsupported syntax that may prevent the Pages equation editor from producing formatted equations.
These are strictly fellow user-supported, public communities in which no Apple employees participate. Pleas to the product teams are not seen here. You do have the means on the Pages application menu to directly send feature request feedback to the product team.
