How Do I repair the USB stick?

After after taking a USB stick out of my Android phone, the stick refuses to mount in either the phone, or in Mac mini.

When the stick is plugged into any of the ports on my machine, the stick’s icon refuses to show up on the desktop.

When I use the Terminal command with the stick plugged into my machine, the command hangs: as does the Disk Utility app.

The version of Disk Utility that shows up in Recovery Mode also hangs..

All work perfectly, when the stick isn’t plugged in.

As the desktop shows nothing when the bad stick is plugged in, I cannot eject it as I normally would.

So pull the stick out: and get a “Disc not ejected properly” message.

How do I get the blessed stick working again?

(This is on an M4 Mac mini, running macOS Tahoe 26.2)
