I have a MacBook Air Tahoe. I’m traveling in Europe and have been unable to connect to the internet in all hotels except a Marriot. The wi fi name and password works and says it’s connected but when I try to get on the internet google and safari say I’m not connected. I think it’s a security thing. The security type is WPA3 personal. Marriott’s security type is none.
In my experience this has been a feature of Macs for many, many years and I must have spent hours tearing my hair out over it while a deadline approached. Things you could try that might or might not work....
Go into network settings and temporarily delete your DNS servers (copy them somewhere so you can put them back later). Then clear the DNS cache. I used to have a saved NW configuration set up with no DNS specifically for travelling hotspots.
Try navigating to http://captive.apple.com in your browser.
Turn off Private Relay if you are running it.
Turn off Private WiFi address if you've got it turned on.

Amazing! I deleted the DNS servers, but couldn’t figure out how to delete the cache. Then I went to your Apple website and now I can get in. Thank you so much. This has been bugging me for days. I could not figure it out. I don’t know how you did, but I am grateful. Thank you
