iPhone SE (2020) NFC not reading tags
I have a SE (2020) iphone and trying to read the NFC on my new pickleball paddle with no luck. Tried it on a ski pass that has NFC and still nothing registers?
iPhone SE, iOS 18

You’re correct. There are free third party apps that will check NFC for operations. NFC Checker and NFC Tools are two that will check iPhone NFC operations.

So, if NFC module on your iPhone is not working, it’ll need to be replaced. Do you have Apple Care? If not, there will be a charge for the repair.
If you’re in the US, please call 1-800-MY-APPLE, or outside the US, consult the support articles below. In Canada, call 1-800-263-3394.

Please follow this path,
iPhone > Settings > Camera > Scan QR Codes > enable, if it is enabled, momentarily disable and then restore-enable, restart iPhone.
Your packaging is damaged and the NFC antenna is probably damaged as well. Use one of the free apps I recommend above and check that your device’s NFC module is working.
Exactly what are you expecting it to do?
Not sure what that would have to do with NFC...
Thanks but still nothing. To register the paddle with the manufacturer they use a NFC chip in the handle.
No difference and not sure why the QR code reader has to do with the NFC? Thanks though
See the symbol on the paddle
Jeff,
Thanks. I already tried the NFC Tools "READ" function and nothing. I'll try the other app
Still nothing and the app had a check your device" "Great! Your device supports NFC, and it's activated"
