Black Home screen on iPhone after 26.3 update

This black home screen happened to my iPad Pro when I updated to iPadOS 26.3 And to my Wife’s iPhone.

We had “Reduce Transparency” enabled in both devices to overcome the appearance of Liquid Glass. When my Wife experimented by turning to Tinted (rather than Clear) Liquid Glass, it required turning off “Reduce Transparency.” The black Home Screen disappeared.

Further experimentation showed that if one simply turned off “Reduce Transparency” and then restarted the device, one could then turn “Reduce Transparency” back on without the return of the black Home Screen.

I think African Queen on this question is correct: Turning off “Reduce Transparency” is sufficient to solve the problem.

It is a major software glitch, as reports of it is gaining major popularity on these forums. I'm not so certain it is relevant to LiquidGlass, but it seems that way, as of this reply. So, start with a Force Restart, and report this to Apple.

B. Reporting this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. These are just user-to-user forums. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
4. Proceed from there as necessary

I followed the solution to change clear to tinted in Display and brightness and black screen DISAPPEARED!!

I have same issue on my iPad Air 4th gen

I have the same issue on my iPhone 17 Pro, but not on my iPad mini 7.

My 14 ProMax has the same issue.😒
