Unable to install apps from App Store on MacBook Air M1

I am unable to install any new apps. When I select an app from the App Store and click Get, I simply see the following and then nothing happens (please note I've blanked out my account details).

The same thing happens with all apps. I've previously installed apps with no issues, so not sure what's happening.

Have just updated to Tahoe 26.3 full release in the hope that this would resolve the issue.

All suggestions and help welcome.

Device: Macbook Air M1

OS: Tahoe 26.3

Re: MacBook Air M1 13″, macOS 26.3 : Unable to install apps from App Store on MacBook Air M1

Thank you for providing your computer and MacOS details, and for the screenshot.

Seems you do not get any other option than "cancel" when you attempt to download apps.

There are various possible causes for the issue you are encountering.

We don't have much to go on to determine which particular cause underlies your situation.

You may be able to rule out some of them, from your knowledge.

Note: If you add, change, or update any settings, you may need to Restart your iPhone

so the settings may come into effect sooner than a wait of up to 24 hours.

✽ You need to be signed in to your Mac with the same Apple Account you use for the App Store.

If needed: Sign in to your Apple Account on the web or in your device settings - Apple Support

Also: check Apple menu > System Settings > [ Your name ] > Media and Purchases settings.

✽ There need to be no restrictions set on App Store downloads.

Eg: Parental Controls / Family Sharing (see the organizer) / ScreenTime / Mac settings

If needed: Change Store Restrictions settings in Screen Time on Mac - Apple Support

Some downloads may require you have a payment method listed in your Apple Account,

even if they are free apps, or, even if an Apple Account balance is used to pay for a purchase.

If needed: See how to: Add a payment method to your Apple Account - Apple Support

✽ You may want to check all is in order / up-to-date / in your Apple Account online:

Apple Account log-in: https://account.apple.com/

If you need a log-in verification code for the new iPhone:

See: Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

✽ If there's a problem with a previous purchase it would need to be resolved: If a message says 'billing problem with previous purchase' or 'verification required' - Apple Support

✽ Trouble-shooting:

See what to do: If you can't download or update apps on your Mac - Apple Support
