Feature Suggestion: Allow iPhone Microphone Selection When Bluetooth Devices Are Connected

iOS routes microphone input through connected Bluetooth earbuds by default. While this works in most situations, it can be limiting:

  • When the iPhone and Bluetooth device are not in close proximity (e.g., iPhone in one room, earbuds in another).

  • When the Bluetooth device’s microphone quality is lower than the iPhone’s built-in microphone.

Currently, the workaround appears to be turning off Bluetooth, which can disrupt other connected devices like an Apple Watch or car system.

A simple toggle could help:

“Use iPhone microphone for voice-to-text when Bluetooth devices are connected”

This seems feasible, as macOS already allows independent selection of input and output devices. It could improve usability, accessibility, and hands-free workflows.
