iPad Lock screen unavailable in Kiosk mode after iOS 26
We have several hundred iPads managed by Intune running in single-app Kiosk mode. Prior to iOS 26, pressing the power button would cause the iPad screen to turn black (sleep). Pressing it again would bring the iPad to a Lock screen. On this Lock screen we'd have the company logo along with the name and serial number of the iPad - very helpful when trying to positively identify an iPad as they are in cases or locked in stands, hiding the serial number. Pressing the Home button or swiping up would return the iPad to the application running in single-app Kiosk mode.
Following iOS 26 this is no longer the case. Pressing the Power button simply turns the screen black (sleep) or back to the single-app Kiosk mode screen. The Lock screen never shows. The only way to get the Lock screen to appear is to disable single-app Kiosk mode. Then the iPad behaves as before.
Is there a work-around for this?
We use the Lock screen info (iPad name/serial #) to identify which one of several otherwise-identical iPads an end-user may be using. The iPads are normally in cases or stands so reading the serial number on the back is not an option. So if there's another way for an end-user to positively identify which iPad they are holding that would work, too.
