iPhone 17 Pro Max: USB-C cable short circuit damage?
I connected my iPhone 17 pro max using the included Apple type-c 60 W cable to my home PC. At some point there was a short circuit in the usb c port on the motherboard. Does the included cable have built-in short circuit protection? Could I have damaged my iPhone?
Certified USB-C cables do indeed include active electronics. Although primarily intended to negotiate USB PD (Power Delivery) charging voltage and current limits, the electronics of the cable may provide some degree of protection from short circuits and electrical faults.
