IPad Pro m2 Maximum External Display Hz Support

Is it possible to achieve 1440p 120hz on the iPad Pro m2 in an external display . I have seen confusing answers with apple mentioning maximum capability to support 6k at 60 Hz . I ordered an 200 hz monitor . So if any of you guys have prior experience with an 120 hz monitor please reply .

You can find links to individual iPad specifications here:

iPad Manuals and Downloads - Apple Support

By example, detailed specifications for the iPad Pro M5 can be found here:

iPad Pro 13‑inch (M5) - Tech Specs – Apple Support

If your look through the full specifications you'll find clear statement as to support for 4K resolution @120Hz:

Display Support

Supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colours

  • Supports one external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz or up to 4k resolution at 120Hz

Thunderbolt 3 digital video output

  • Native DisplayPort output over USB-C
  • VGA, HDMI, DVI and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

Video mirroring

  • Up to 4K AirPlay for mirroring, photos and video out to Apple TV (2nd generation or later) or AirPlay‑enabled smart TV
  • Video mirroring and video out support through USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter and USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter (adapters sold separately)

Contributors here are all end-users just like you. We have access to the same information.

I fully understand that higher screen resolutions will reduce the potential frame rate. Apple do indeed have a 5K monitor - this being the very expensive (professional) Studio Display. The specifications for the iPad Pro M5 (my example here) are arguably potentially clearer than the stated specifications for the much older iPad Pro M2.

Confused?

You would always be wise to assume that Apple's published specifications for a specific iPad model are correct. As such, for an iPad Pro M2, an external monitor will be limited to a 60Hz frame rate when used with your iPad. As such, for your iPad, choosing a monitor that supports 200Hz is wasted capability.

My initial reply indicated that iPad models, depending upon individual specification, support connection of external monitor displays at up to 120Hz refresh rate.

Apple has neither stated that 60 hz as the maximum capability nor said anything about 120 hz . You do realise that higher the resolution lower the refresh rate support would be ? . Apple has blatantly told us it supports one external display at 6k 60 hz no info regarding lower resolution support . Mind you apple has a 5k display and they have mentioned anything about the iPad's capability about it either .
