If you are using the System Storage eye-candy, ignore it and use Disk Utility or something else.

Plus there are some good Utilities like OmniDiskSweeper and GrandPerspective that work well.

I personally prefer OmniDiskSweeper, because it has a cleaner UI and is laid out similar to Finder.
