Yesterday, I was editing a video with Final Cut Pro on my MacBook Air M3 16/512. Every time I tried to change the font of the text in the first ‘panorama’ panel, it would close on its own and then ask me to send a report. I tried several times, but in the end, I gave up and used the Chroma font. I have the subscription version for 12 euros per month.
- Green check: The font passed.
- Yellow caution: Minor issues (often safe to use, but may have non-critical structure errors).
- Red X: Serious errors (do not install; these can crash applications).
As part of this workflow, also run “Resolve Duplicates.” Duplicate fonts (same internal names, different files/versions) are a very common cause of “font is installed but behaves weirdly” issues. Font Book supports File > Resolve Duplicates, which can be done automatically or manually.

OK, that video doesn't show us what you're doing in FCP.
What font are you selecting when it crashes? You may have a badly encoded/corrupt font. Remove that font from you system (Font Book) and reinstall a know good version.
