iPhone 16 Pro not recognized by macOS after iOS 26.3 update

Upon updating to iOS 26.3 my iPhone 16 Pro won’t appear in MacOS 26.3 or 15.7.4. The device will charge but does not appear in the Finder or Music. DFU mode doesn’t register in Configurator. Erase and Install provided no change. Any help would be appreciated. IPadOS devices sync as normal. Is anyone else experiencing this with iOS devices?

UPDATE: After several sysdiagnose files were compiled and searched. A mysterious - Failed to get VD01 content - led me in the direction of a failed handshake. The device would charge but not sync. Several generic hubs were tested and the phone still failed to mount. However, testing on the hub of a Samsung G7 display committed to the negotiation. The phone mounts. All is well. The proper usb-hub WILL FIX this issue. TRY THEM ALL!

That fixed the problem. Do we have any idea when the "Automatically Allow When Unlocked" is able to work again?

No one here can . We are all end users with no special access to Apple's software update plans.

On my iPhone SE 2020 running 26.3 (without issue) the "when unlocked" option is checked and seems to work fine. I always back up our phones and iPads to my computer and that works the same as it did with older OS versions.

An iPhone 6s successfully mounts in 26.3 running iOS15.
  • The “in 26.3” section of this quote of yours is incorrect. Yes, the iPhone 6S will mount using iOS 15.
  • However, it will be subject to the “juice jacking” mentioned in the linked User Tip above if mounted at a public charger. At the time iOS 15 was released, this could not have been avoided.
