"iPhone dictation very bad since I was 26 update: Has anyone else having trouble with dictation on Apple products lately? It used to be that the dictation was maybe 80% reliable. It’s dropped way below 40%, on my brand new iPhone 17 Pro Max that I’ve just reset to see if that makes a difference. It gets complete sentences extremely wrong, and it’s ridiculous. I’ve never had problems to this level on any Apple products that I’ve owned, and I’ve been an apple person since the mid 1990s. Thanks. "

Troubleshooting Dictation:
A. Featureless Issues:
There may be a feature that is causing this, yet it cannot be fixed due to in unavailability of this feature.
- Go Here: Dictate Text on iPhone - Apple Support
- As it Reads: "Note: Dictation may not be available in all languages or in all countries or regions, and features may vary. See the iOS and iPadOS Feature Availability website."
B. Re-Enable Dictation:
How exactly are you turning off dictation? Report back if this works...
- Go to: Settings
- Tap: General
- Tap: Keyboard
- Turn Off: Enable Dictations
- Turn On: Enable Dictations
C. Siri: If "Hey Siri" isn't Working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
D. Report this to Apple:
Do your Part: Report this issue to Apple. These are user-to-user forums. Apple barely reads these forums as it is on their own time. So, report this to apple yourself, to spread the word. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what suits their customers' needs and wants in versions to come. Apple will know know thing of this issue, if you don't report it to them.

- Select: "But Report" for the "Feedback Type"
- Comment: that this all started after installing this update. and how you have troubleshoot it thus far. Include the URL of this thread.
- Proceed from there as necessary.
