You will only be able to electronically track the powered-off phone If Find My Network is enabled,, and someone with an Apple device passes very close to your phone before your phone's battery charge runs out. Or if Find My is turned on – and someone who finds your phone turns it on.
Odds are that you will need to look for your phone the old-fashioned way.
