SOS with physical sim after converting to eSIM

After accidentally converting from physical SIM card to eSIM card on an iPhone 14, the eSIM card was deleted from the settings. Now shows ‘no sim’ in cellular and cannot be deleted. Not prompted to update contacts. Carrier reactivated previously active physical sim but device will not recognize this physical SIM card. Continues to show no service. Can confirm SIM card is indeed active and works in alternate device.  How is this resolved?  Carrier has no control over device settings.

You will need to continue to work with your carrier if their SIM is not providing connectivity.

You could try doing a "Reset Network Settings" followed by turning the phone off, then back on. This will cause the phone not only to take a fresh look at cellular settings, but to forget all known Wi-Fi hotspots (so don't be surprised if you do it, and that happens).
