There's absolutely no way anyone can answer that for you, especially since we don't even know the site in question that had this problem.
There are about 14 kazillion different reasons why any site may crash. It could be a local network problem, a problem with the server, a problem with the way the page was written, a problem with some embedded content.... the list goes on.
When a page has a problem like this, Safari reloads the page to see if that addresses the issue. If it doesn't, and the problem continues to recur, then it's likely something wrong with the site in question, and it's likely that only the people who run that site have any control over fixing it.

If you encounter the same issue frequently on a particular website, you might want to check whether Safari is among their preferred browsers. (Not all websites are tailored to all browsers ... the help or support area of the website will often list their "preferred" browsers.)
Else: You may want to check the available memory / storage on your device. (Check that your device has at least 8 Gb or so free, in which to operate smoothly.)
