Microsoft Office slow startup on MacBook Pro
ms office runs well but startup is far too slow (14 secs) on mbp i7, 16GB running macos 11.7.11

Office on Big Sur is not getting further updates, but even Word v16.106.1 (Office 2024) on Tahoe 26.3 takes roughly ten seconds to launch a first time. After I quit and launch it a second time, it launches instantaneously on my M4 Mac Mini Pro (14c20g1TB, 64GB ram).
Neither Apple or Microsoft can do anything now about your slow Office launch time on Big Sur. Both the operating system and Office are now unsupported on that older version of macOS. Consider having fewer applications concurrently running as that may have something to do with slow launch times, if not Time Machine backup in progress.
