Keeping a website window open while I retrieve email

Mac dates from 2015 - 2017. Latest browser and software.

How do I keep a bank's website open when they tell me to retrieve a pass code from my email?

By the time I get to the email, the code has expired and the bank's website has gone.

Unless I'm missing something in your post, the answer is simply to open a second browser window.

File > New Window and navigate that one to your email service.

There is no need to close other browser windows to get to your email. It's common practice to have many browser windows open to several websites at any given time.

Or open your email website in a new Tab in Safari while keeping your bank's website open in its own tab.
