The Photos app will scan the library for duplicates and assemble them in a Duplicate folder in the sidebar. You can then merge them all at once. However, is would review the duplicates and make sure both of them are the same size. Otherwise you should manually delete the lower sized file and keep the larger one.

Sometimes two files that are not identical but close are presented as duplicates. Again review them and decide if you want to merge them or not and. move them out of the Duplicates folder.

Once you review them all and take care of the special cases you can select all and merge the at once.

It may take some time (up to a week or so) to review all of the photos in the library and move them to the Duplicates folder. Do patience is a virtue and a necessity.

Alternately if you want to be more proactive in removing duplicates get the paid version of PowerPhotos . It will search for duplicates and present them side by side for your review and decision. It's an extremely powerful Photos utility.

I'm concerned that you didn't tell us if you're talking about a Mac, an iPhone, or an iPad, or whatever. You also didn't mention what OS or iOS or iPadOS you are using.

Old Toad has suggested that you use the Duplicates folder that you can find in the sidebar of a Mac or iPad.

But you say specifically "from a photo album," rather than "from the Library" as OT guessed. The Duplicates folder technique can be use d to remove pictures from the entire Library, and puts them in the Recently Deleted folder. Is that what you need?

Deleting pictures from an Album doesn't delete the pictures from the Library-- a picture deleted from one album will still be in the other albums it was in before. Is this what you're asking?

If Old Toad didn't guess right with the limited details, let us know with more detailed information…
