Apple Fitness app not working on early generation Apple TV

I can’t use Apple Fitness app with my Apple TV. It’s an early generation Apple TV, but I can stream the previews fine.

i get these two error messages. What should i try?

The Fitness+ app for Apple TV only works on the Apple TV 4K generation:

Note that the above poster was referring to the Fitness Plus app, and it is true that it will not be present on models earlier than the 4th gen. Also, the earlier models do not support airplay 2 and that could be the reason why it is not able to support casting on those models. For verification you can contact Apple support.

That’s not true. I have an early gen Apple TV airplaying Apple fitness just fine. However, I moved the Apple TV to a an older TV, I’m getting the same error. Previews play fine but not the actual workout. Trying to find the solution.
