What is wrong with Safari, it stopped opening SSA.gov says Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. Quite irritating. DuckDuckGo works fine as does Edge on Pc, just Safari is at a lost. Been this way now for over a week, I am on 26.2 on Mac mini

I recently experienced something similar.
The fix for me was to clear the cache in Safari, then quit the app and launch it again.
You can clear Safari's cache from the Develop menu in the app.

It's probably no mere coincidence that governmental, educational, and banking domain Websites aren't too fond of Safari. But, if you are using a VPN, then delete it all. Too large of a header is seen in the cookies --so, clear your Temporary Internet Files:

Back in the day, Apple chose to hide the ability to clear caches, for whatever reason. So, to clear them, you need to unhide the Developer forum.
