Will the airtag v2 still ping off of older ios devices to relay location information?
I understand I need IOS 26+ to connect to my airtag, but I want to know if the new v2 tags will still relay location data off of older ios devices or if the relaying phone also has to be running ios 26+ to transmit the airtag v2 location.

Yes. AirTag v2 will still relay its location using older iPhones because the relaying device does not need iOS 26+.
Only the owner device (the phone you pair the AirTag with) must be on iOS 26+.
