Mac dropping Wi-Fi connection after update

Starting last week out of nowhere, my mac has been dropping the wifi connection. My husband's PC uses the Ethernet connection and has not been having problems, so it doesn't seem like a wifi issue. I also don't seem to have issues with my phone (where I live doesn't have good service, so I only use wifi). Is this something with the new update? What can I do about this? It is not an old compuer.

Troubleshooting Mac Wi-Fi:

A few thoughts to try...

I. Clear the Temporary Internet Files:

II. Restart your Router:

  1. Power: off the router
  2. Wait: 30 seconds
  3. Power: It back on

III. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe Mode, Login Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another update install. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

IV. Try a New Admin User:

What happens when you create a new administrator user, and log into it? Do you still get this error? If not, then it is likely an error with the current user. If so, then it is likely an error with your Mac.

Let's do a simple experiment to determine if a faulty DNS is the culprit here for your Mac's Internet connection issue.

Please try the following:

  1. Using your favorite web browser, enter: www.cloudflare.com. Does the Cloudflare website appear? If it does, then DNS is not the issue. If it doesn't, try the next step.
  2. Again using your web browser, this time, enter: 1.1.1.1. Does the Cloudflare website appear this time?

Please post back your results.

In addition, please answer the following questions:

  • Do you actively use a VPN to connect your Mac to the Internet?
  • Do you have any third-party software firewalls installed on this Mac?
  • Do you have any third-party anti-virus apps running on this Mac?

"Same thing is happening to me on Tahoe 26.3. When can we expect a fix?"

Update your Mac:

It has been a few days since your post, but, have you install the most-recent update: macOS Tahoe 26.4.1? Report back the results, if you have done so. IMPORTANT: Prior to installing any update, you should create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac; that way, you can have something to restore it from, should anything go wrong afterwards.

At work yesterday (2/26/26) my wifi constantly dropped, looks like some kind of searching for better signal. At home today it is happening. I am absolutely sure it's the latest update, that's the only thing I did Tuesday night, updated to Tahoe 26.3. I am done updating my Mac right away anymore. This is not good. And don't post about clearing cache and rebooting your home router. That's ridiculous.
