How do I free up storage on iPhone 14 Plus to back it up?

If you are backing up to iCloud and have exceeded your default 5GB of free storage then you do indeed need to purchase additional iCloud storage. Your iPhone 15 Pro Max may be using most of that 5GB for its backups, photos, messages, contacts, and any other data that is synced to iCloud.

On your iPhone 14 goto Settings->Apple Account (your picture)->iCloud->Storage->note how much of your iCloud storage is being used.

If you are backing up to you Mac or PC you would also need enough free storage to complete the backup.

Your only option is the purchase (as a really reasonable price) additional iCloud storage to back it up onto there, delete things such as photos and then back up your phone whilst saving items you deleted from the phone elsewhere such as a Personal Computer or a Hard Drive.

This is what I had to do when my phone was at capacity due to too many photos.

How are you trying to back up the 14 Plus?
