How do I free up storage on iPhone 14 Plus to back it up?

Hello - I have an iPhone 14 Plus and an iPhone 15 pro max that share the same apple id. I use the 15 pro max more and there is barely any thing on the 14 plus. I cannot back up the 14 plus as it states there is not enough storage. Please advise me what to do as I mainly want to keep the 14 plus free of apps etc. and I do not want to purchase any storage.

Thank you and I await your reply.

If you are backing up to iCloud and have exceeded your default 5GB of free storage then you do indeed need to purchase additional iCloud storage. Your iPhone 15 Pro Max may be using most of that 5GB for its backups, photos, messages, contacts, and any other data that is synced to iCloud.

On your iPhone 14 goto Settings->Apple Account (your picture)->iCloud->Storage->note how much of your iCloud storage is being used.

If you are backing up to you Mac or PC you would also need enough free storage to complete the backup.
