When is the MacBook Air expected to get the M5 chip?

Does anyone have an idea when the MacBook Air might get the M5 chip? I would hate to buy one now and have the upgrade come within months. Only because I can't afford that.

No matter what device you buy, it is very likely that a newer, shinier one will come out in "months." Technology doesn't stand still.

I've found it helps to adjust my mindset. Don't focus on buying the newest, hottest device. Instead, focus on buying one that meets your needs. If it meets your needs now when you buy it, it will still meet your needs in a couple of months when something newer is launched.

If nothing available right now seems worth spending all that money on, and what you have will do the job, wait. And consider the possibility that you don't need a new device, you just want one. I am all too familiar myself with the feeling of wanting the latest.

Thanks, Mac Jim Perfect.

I won't be able to upgrade in a couple of months @idrisSeabright. After this next purchase, some of us cannot afford that.

But. I'm a photographer, and I deal with large files. The 8K I spent just 8 years ago, hoping that it, with care, would last me for a long time, because I don't need the news in the shiniest. I just need something that works. And apparently, my hardware and my Intel chip, more specifically, are not able to run the programs that I would like without the new AI chip.

Apple just announced M5 MacBook Airs, M5 Pro MacBook Pros, and M5 Max MacBook Pros. (There were already MacBook Pros with plain M5 chips.). So now the entire notebook lineup uses M5-family chips.

You can see details on the Apple site.
