What version of Pages are you using with Sequoia v15.7.4? Is this a Word document you created previously, or obtained from another source?

Pages cannot open an OASIS Open Document (.odt) file, if this was the case of renaming the document extension in hopes of converting it to Word. Most people know better.

Depending upon where this document has traveled, or how it was generated, it may be damaged internally to the point where Pages will refuse to open it. I have encountered some of these orphans myself, and after opening them in the current LibreOffice Writer version, and then saving as Word 2010 - 365 docx, Pages opened them without incident. You might try that next. If you go this route, be certain to get the correct LibreOffice build for your Mac architecture (see above the yellow Download button).

Post back if LibreOffice Writer opening and saving the Word document resolves this issue for you.
