I have an older Apple monitor connected to my Mac mini. Over the past several months it has occasionally suddenly gone dark. Generally I have been able to restore function by disconnecting and reconnecting a plug. Yesterday it went dark while I was away and I have been unable to get it to turn back on by dis- and reconnecting , restarting mini, unplugging and replugging, touching start button. I appreciate any suggestions.

What year model is the Mac mini...?
What size and model is the older Apple Display...?
What adapter and/or cable are you using to make the connection..?
Have you tested an aftermarket display or HDMI TV with the Mac mini to see it has a solid connection.
Thank you for your response. I did have another older monitor that I set up with my mini and it works just fine. I believe the problem was the monitor and not the mini. At least I have a working setup now.
