Final Cut Pro for iPad: Magnetic Mask & Mac differences

Does the latest iPad version of Final Cut Pro have Magnetic Mask?

Also, what features would I be missing from Final Cut Pro for Mac if I use the one for iPad?

I'm asking these questions because I'm deciding between an M5 iPad Pro and an M5 MacBook Pro.

Windows, Windows 11 (26200)

Hi (bonjour)!

Ai say's:

« Key Differences:

    • Interface & Input: iPad uses a touch-first, gesture-based interface with a jog wheel and supports Apple Pencil for "Live Drawing". Mac uses traditional mouse/keyboard/trackpad.
    • Pricing: iPad is a monthly/annual subscription ($4.99/mo or $49/yr). Mac is a one-time $299 purchase.(now you can get it in Apple creator studio bundle)
    • Features: The iPad version lacks some advanced features like extensive plugin support, complex motion graphics (no Motion/Compressor app), and advanced color wheels. It does, however, have exclusive AI features like "Scene Removal Mask" and Pro Camera Mode.
    • Media Management: The Mac version handles external media libraries easily. The iPad version traditionally works with media files within the app/iPad, making external storage management more restrictive.
    • Project Interoperability: While you can import iPad projects into the Mac, you cannot always easily go from Mac to iPad.

Which one to choose?

    • Choose iPad for mobility, quick turnaround times, on-the-go shooting, and social media content creation.
    • Choose Mac for professional, long-form, complex projects requiring high-end color grading, plugins, and third-party tools. »

Final Cut Pro for iPad had less functionality, I see it like a iMovie on steroids.

May be it’s related to my age but I feel working with mittens when I work on my iPads, even with Apple pen.

I can’t easily use opt and cmd keys, do not have the finder and folders under hands, the disk space is limited and connecting an external drive gives an ugly look. if you add the Apple keyboard, the price is higher.

Both MacBook and iPad are portable, but for me, and it’s again very a matter of personal taste, I use my iPads pro just for viewing and earring contents, not create them.
