How to transfer music to an iPod Classic 6th gen after formatting and restoring?

Ok so, I recently acquired an ipod classic gen 6 video 80gb, and formatted it. I have restored it to version 1.2.2 but cannot seem to transfer my music whatsoever, i tried purchasing new music from itunes store by my phone but it just would not sync to the ipod. I have no idea on how to fix this, and everything else works fine.
