Personal Hotspot – Off & it is grayed out

iOS 26.3 update breaks personal hotspot on iPhone 16 Pro Max …

After updating my iPhone 16 Pro Max to iOS 26.3 , I can no longer use Personal Hotspot. In Settings, the option shows as “Personal Hotspot – Off” and it is grayed out.

I already tried :-

Restarting the iPhone.

Turning Airplane Mode on/off.

Resetting Cellular and Wi-Fi connections.

Updating Carrier Settings (no update available).

Changing Hotspot password and device name.

But the issue is still there. My carrier plan includes hotspot, and it was working normally before updating to iOS 26.3.

Is anyone else facing the same issue? Any fix or workaround until Apple releases a patch?

The steps you already tried are the correct basic ones, but this issue usually does not respond to normal resets. The problem is almost always that the carrier profile did not re‑authenticate after the update. This is why the Personal Hotspot section disappears or becomes locked, and why the toggle cannot be enabled.

The most common fix is having the carrier remove hotspot from your line and then re‑add it. This forces a fresh provisioning push to the device, and it usually restores the hotspot toggle immediately. It takes them less than a minute to do.
