iPhone SE not seeing iTunes library from MacBook Pro. Why? How to correct this?

I have an iPhone SE, purchased in July 2020. System up-to-date (currently running iOS version 26.2.1).


We have stored a lot of music in our iTunes/Music library on our MacBook Pro (we loaded many of our personal music CDs into the library). (MacBook Pro system up-to-date - purchased in Nov 2019 and currently running version iOS Tahoe 26.3).


I am unable to see or access all that music on my iPhone, except for the few songs I've purchased through the iTunes store.


How can I access my entire iTunes/Music library on my iPhone SE? I checked all the conversation threads, and the solutions presented are not applicable.


Help!

There is no direct access of music on a Mac from an iPhone as if by magic, if you want to have the music available on the iPhone there are 3 options you can enable or make use of.


  1. Subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match and enable iCloud Music Library. This then syncs music from your Mac to iCloud and makes it available to other devices using the same Apple Account.

  2. Enable Home Sharing. This enables you to access the Mac's library while the iPhone is connected to the same network as the Mac.

  3. Directly sync the music to the iPhone form the Mac over USB or Wi-Fi. This copies all tracks, albums and playlists from the Mac to the iPhone or selected ones if you choose.

If you choose Apple Music or iTunes Library sync, you won't be able to directly sync the music over USB later. You would need to disable the iCloud Music sync option before you can sync directly.
