iPhone 17 Pro: Auto-answer and 'call blocked' issues

My iphone 17 pro automatically answers my phone maybe 1 call in 10 (inconsistently). Also, so people phoning me have commented that they get a man coming on, saying. 'this call is blocked'. Again inconsistently.

the auto answer setting is off. I turned it off and on to try a reset but that didnt help.

iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26

Try the following steps by step:

1. Check hidden auto‑answer triggers

  • Open Settings ➡️ Accessibility ➡️ Touch ➡️ Call Audio Routing
  • Set to Automatic.
  • If it’s on Bluetooth Headset or Speaker, the phone may auto‑answer.
  • Open Settings ➡️ Accessibility ➡️ Voice Control
  • Turn Voice Control off. Background noise can trigger “answer call.”
  • Open Settings ➡️ Face ID & Attention

2. Fix the “call blocked” message

  • Open Settings ➡️ Apps ➡️ Phone ➡️ Silence Unknown Callers ➡️Turn it off.
  • Open Settings ➡️ Apps ➡️ Phone ➡️ Call Blocking & Identification .Turn everything off temporarily. Third‑party spam filters cause exactly the message your callers hear.
  • Open Settings ➡️ Apps ➡️ Phone ➡️ Blocked Contacts . Make sure the callers aren’t being added automatically

3. Reset carrier call‑handling rules

  • Open Settings ➡️ General ➡️ Transfer or Reset iPhone ➡️ Reset ➡️ Reset Network Settings (Does not erase data; you’ll just re‑enter Wi‑Fi passwords.)

4. Restart the iPhone
