Fastest Apple charger for iPhone 17 Pro and iPad Pro

Hi,

Getting confused with all the different changers there are. We have an iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max and a 5th gen 12.9" iPad Pro. The chargers that come with our Apple watches work just fine and my MacBook Pro has its own.

I am trying to find a charger that will work with our iPhones and iPad for the fastest charging at home. I see there are 20w, 35w, 40w, 70w, 96w etc. Prefer Apple product. And when I check the compatibility they all seem to work, but again how to figure out which would be the better choice.

Thanks,

Jim

The iPhone's 17 Pro will fast charge at their maximum supported charging rate using a USB-C Power Adapter that supports USB PD (Power Delivery).

While not explicitly stated by Apple, independent testing of the fifth generation iPad Pro (M1) has shown that this iPad can charge at a maximum charging rate of ~38W when charged using a USB PD.

For practical purposes, a compatible USB-C Power Adapter of 30W or greater will be more than adequate to fast charge the devices that you list, 40W providing the shortest possible charging times. While more powerful Power Adapters will be perfectly usable, their additional capacity will be unused.

All Apple USB-C Power Adapters support USB PD - this being the charging standard used by Apple devices. Proprietary charging standards, such as QC (Quick Charge) are not supported by Apple devices. While Apple Power Adapters are ideal, there are good quality third-party alternatives, such as Anker, Mophie and Belkin.
