iPhone DND not working despite troubleshooting

I have exhausted all the "what to do's" for DND on my iPhone 17. I have done everything that has been suggested. The last resort will be to restore settings. Does anyone else have this issue?

iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26

If you experience persistent Do Not Disturb (DND) issues on iOS, it is often caused by hidden Focus settings, shared Focus status across devices, or software bugs. If basic troubleshooting (restarts, toggling settings) fails, resetting all settings is the next logical step to resolve conflicts without erasing data.

Advanced Troubleshooting & Things to Check

  • Check "Share Across Devices": Go to Settings > Focus, and turn off "Share Across Devices." Another device (iPad/Mac) might be disabling DND.

  • Review "Allowed People/Apps": In the DND settings, ensure no one or no apps are listed in the "Allow" list, which overrides the silence.

  • Check Focus Filters: Ensure you haven't set a Filter that changes your settings when DND is on.

  • Disable "Repeated Calls": Make sure this is toggled off in settings, as it allows second calls to ring through.

Final Step: Reset All Settings

If the issue persists, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will revert system settings (wallpaper, network, Bluetooth, etc.) to default, but will not delete your personal data (photos, apps).

I hope it helps.

" Does anyone else have this issue?"

Yes. It's never worked for me. No apps are allowed. No people are allowed. Notifications not allowed on Lock screen. No Filters. No repeated calls. Sharing is off . The phone pings, buzzes and lights up at various times in the night when DND is turned on. I don't even think it dims the screen when I turn it on. It appears to be on because the icon appears on the screen and the control centre switch says 'Do Not Disturb'

I gave up with it a long time ago, but I always give it a go when there's a software update in the vain hope that it will have been fixed, but I'm on 26.3 and it still disturbs me. If the phone's in the bedroom I put it into Airplane mode before I go to bed or turn it off completely. That fixes it, but it makes the charger pad I bought for the bedside table a waste of money.
