Charging on Hold on my iPhone

My phone says Charging On Hold Charging will resume when iPhone returns to normal tempature. So My phone has been overheat because my charging on hold!

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 26

No, your phone has not overheated. It's just telling you that it has paused charging so that the battery can cool off a little. This is part of the algorithm that helps extend the life of your battery. What you're seeing is completely normal.


If your phone had overheated, it would have given you a warning to that effect and then shut itself off.

I get that when using wireless fast charging, the kind that flashes a green circle on the screen when the phone is set on the charger. Won't resume till it cools off.


Solution? Don't use wireless (magnetic), that creates the heat in the power transfer. Cabled to the SAME power brick gets me identical if not faster charge times with no Holds. Leave fast wireless for quickies. Or use regular low-power wireless.
