How to safely update macOS Tahoe to version 26.3.1?
Has anyone uploaded the new Tahoe update? I'm afraid to update, there have been so many problems with the last two versions.

If you are afraid to update then don't.
Otherwise like millions >System Settings>General>Software Update

I would submit to you —
that you have wasted both resources and money for years with your third party anti-virus. The question is why?
Third party AntiVirus is not recommended— it typically does nothing but add issues to the macOS and competes directly with Apple’s own built in security.

The only reason you think there have been “so many problems” is that you only read the complaints here, many of which are the result of user error, user education, or user displeasure with how something changed. There are now around 1.5 billion Apple devices in use in the world. If there really were “so many problems” don’t you think the major tech news blogs would be all over it?
Forums like this one tend to inflate the negative and dismiss the positive. That being said you can safely update to Tahoe 26.3.1 by making sure you first have backups of all your data.
Now we wait for someone to post that Tahoe 26.3.1 is the worst update ever released in the history of updates and no one should install it. Too late as millions already have updated without any issues. I updated the afternoon it was released.
I have installed it on my oldest Mac that can run Tahoe, an Intel 2019 MacBook Pro 16" and it installed very quickly, in less than 10 minutes and no issues at all. I have found that with this Mac, Tahoe running is very smooth and fast, and installing and updating it has been very fast and straightforward. I found some of the visual changes with Tahoe ("liquid glass") to be a little curious but one can minimize or turn those off in Settings and in the end I returned to having them all "on" anyway. One thing I have noticed is that a number of bugs have been fixed in Tahoe from earlier versions of the OS.
You need to report what "bug" you found that makes you so uncomfortable. One of the bugs lead me to a work-around that I like and may never go back to the previous way even though the bug has been corrected. I have found other bugs in Tahoe and have reported them to Apple and keep reporting with each update they go uncorrected. But none of them prevent me from being productive or from enjoying my computer. Ikrupp posting below has the right perspective.
Months ago.
Every upgrade that there has ever been has always been the worst one in the history of forever. Goes back to OS X "Tiger", at least.
I've never had the problems such as what occurred with Tahoe. I just completed the latest update, fingers crossed it will be OK.
What problems? It works for me.
I've had that antivirus for years, I have never had a problem until the Tahoe update. I think the problem is Tahoe.

Ok then.
Then I guess you’ll just have to wait for macOS 27 next year to see if it’s any better. Good luck.
