Yes, I see your point. Although, I've been watching dozens of MacBook videos about different ways to use iWork. For example, an orbital mehanics spreadsheet and graphics of that data; advanced models of Pivot Tables; advanced conditional formatting in the MacOS version of Numbers (formatting features not available in iPadOS version of iPad); creating Pages indices, footnotes & endnotes capabilities which aren't available in the iPadOS version of Pages. So, it seems the MacOS versions of even third party Word, Excel, and other software are full desktop versions. I'm certain MacOS versions of Garage Band, Final Cut Pro, as well as other Apple branded MacOS version of video/audio software are more sophisticated with features & capabilities not available for iPad.
Unless I'm not realizing how powerful iPadOS software is, I'm thinking a MacBook Neo might fit my expectations. But, like I said, maybe I'm not giving the iPad Air M2 the credit it deserves.
