I can't transfer a phone call from my iPad to my iPhone. When I answer a phone call on my iPad the top left button on the screen says Speaker, not Audio, so I'm unable to move the call to my phone. Also, I have no indication in the Dynamic Island on my iPhone that there's a phone call in progress. What settings should I check so I can move phone calls from my iPad to my iPhone?

If you haven't done so already, update your iPad and iPhone to the most recent versions of iPadOS/iOS - at the time of writing, this being iPadOS/iOS 26.3.1.
Ensure that you are signed-in to iCloud with the same Apple Account - and have enabled Continuity services on both your iPad and iPhone:
Settings > General > AirPay & Continuity > Handoff - set to ON
On your iPad, ensure that you have enabled Calls from iPhone:
Settings > Apps > FaceTime > Calls from iPhone - set to ON
On your iPhone:
Settings > Mobile Data >WiFi Calling >
Settings > Mobile Data > Calls on Other Devices >
I removed the VPN and nothing changed on the iPad. However, the green phone icon did appear on my phone and I was able to transfer the call.
From Use iPhone to allow calls and text messages on your iPad - Apple Support:
“If you’re using a VPN, make sure its configuration doesn’t prevent local networking, as that may interfere with some Continuity features.”
I would suggest trying your setup without any VPN. “Local networking” suggests your home network trustworthiness is irrelevant.
make sure bluetooth and wifi on both devices is on. also make sure same Apple ID and same wifi network.

OK, I figured out how to get that call from your iPad to your iPhone!
The answer is to do nothing on your iPad!
When you’re ready to transfer the call to your iPhone, do that on the iPhone by simply tapping the green phone icon on the Dynamic Island. You said you have no indication there’s a call in progress there - I do (iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26.3.1). I’m not sure why you wouldn’t have that indication. The iPhone must be unlocked to see the icon. If you’re using VPN, perhaps that interferes.
Thanks for the reply. All those settings were already set. I took a phone call on my phone today and I did have the ability to transfer it to my iPad but it's not available the other way. I have also checked settings for the phone app on both devices and they are setup the same as each other.
Thanks for the reply. I have a VPN installed on both devices but my home network is listed as a trusted device so the VPN is not active when I'm at home. The weird thing is that if I answer the call on my phone I am able to transfer it to the iPad. Just not the other way.
Both are definitely on and Apple ID is the same.
