Using Photos app on a MacBook without much storage
In Photos settings, if I choose "Optimize", does that mean that when I open a photo to view it, or perhaps edit it, I am still seeing a lo-res version? I would like to use Photos on a MacBook with very little local storage and have it work like my iPad. On my iPad, I can see thumbnails of all my photos, but when I view or edit one, I am using the full-resolution image stored in iCloud. Presumably it is cached temporarily on the iPad. That's what I want on my little MacBook. I already have a backup -- my entire photo library is stored on a desktop Mac at home.
Using an external drive is not a solution. I want to see my photos everywhere I take the MacBook. Thanks!
