What benefit do I get from subscribing to Apple Premium Podcasts? I subscribed to a Patreon Podcast in Apple Podcasts, thinking that I’d become a paid-up member of that podcast and be able to access the podcast’s bonus content for paid membership. But that’s doesn’t appear to be the case. So what have I paid for and where’s the added value?

Apple Podcasts subscriptions are separate from Patreon memberships. When you subscribe in the Apple Podcasts app, you’re only paying for whatever extras the creator offers through Apple, like ad-free episodes, early releases, or bonus episodes inside that app.
If the creator’s bonus content is only on Patreon, then subscribing in Apple Podcasts won’t unlock that. In that case you’d need to subscribe on Patreon directly, or check if the creator actually linked their Patreon perks to Apple Podcasts. Sounds more like a mix-up than a scam.
