iPhone 13 screen recording stops when using Gemini app

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue when trying to record my screen on my iPhone 13 while using the Gemini app, and I was wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar or knows how to fix it.

I need to record my screen to document my interaction with Gemini for a work project. What I do is start the screen recording, open the Gemini app, and begin interacting with the AI. However, the recording stops automatically after a few seconds, is not saved, and the message “screen sharing is temporarily unavailable” appears.

What’s strange is that screen recording works normally in other apps (for example, in the Photos app). The problem only occurs when I open Gemini, which is exactly the app I need to record.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows what might be causing it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When I was actively teaching I often did screen recordings and occasionally experienced the same stoping of recording in apps. It was caused usually by one of two possibilities.


The app I was attempting to record had a bug that prevented recording. I would delete the app, download a fresh copy, restart the device and try again. If it still failed I’d contact the app developer or support team. The developer many times was aware of the issue and updated software released that resolved the issue.


Second possibility is if the potential for recording copyrighted material exists, recording will stop. It’s not a bug, but a safeguard to prevent illegal copying of copyrighted material.
