Lack of Security in iphone very disappointed

Dear Apple Support Team,

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the extremely disappointing support and lack of effective security measures I experienced after my iPhone 16 was stolen.

I purchased a new iPhone 16 on 7th November 2025, and unfortunately, the device was stolen on 12th January 2026 by an unknown person. Since then, I have contacted both the Apple Store and Apple Support Tean multiple times, but I have not received any helpful guidance on how to locate my stolen device.

I was informed that "Find My Device" is the only method available to track my iPhone. However, despite Apple's claims that their devices offer strong security and can be easily tracked, it has now been over 50 days, and I am still unable to trace my phone.

What makes the situation even more frustrating is that I purchased the device on a 6 month EMI, and although the phone was stolen within two months, I am still required to continue paying the EMIS for a device I no longer possess.

Given the premium price of Apple products and the strong emphasis Apple places on security, this experience has been extremely disappointing. A high end smart phones should not be difficult to trace, and the lack of support has caused significant inconvenience and financial stress. Based on this experience, I am unable to recommend Apple products to anyone, as the promised security features do not reflect the reality I faced.

I request Apple to:

1. Review my case urgently,

2. Provide proper assistance in tracking my stolen device,

3. Suggest any additional steps that Apple can take from their side to support such cases.

I hope Apple will take this complaint seriously and improve the experience and options available for customers dealing with stolen devices.

There's no one here from Apple. We're just users trying to help. If you want to contact Apple Support directly there's a link at the bottom of this page.

Did you enable Find-My on your phone? If so then you might be able to track it by signing into iCloud on a browser.

Find My only works if the phone is pinged by other iDevices. if the thief turned the phone off and/or put it in a shielded bag or box then it won't work. If they leave it in the bag until the battery runs down then it can't be tracked. There's nothing Apple can do about this - it's a laws of physics thing.

You should still be able to put your phone into Lost Mode which will prevent the thief being able to access your phone or for anyone to turn it on and use it. You should have done this the moment you knew the phone had been stolen.

First off, this is not Apple support; this is a user to user forum. You can contact support by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.

Second, find my phone is for the use of the end user, that's you. For the app to work, it had to have been activated before the theft. It can be defeated by placing the device in a Faraday bag, where it neither receives, nor transmits a signal and therefore can't be tracked.

Most likely, your device was parted out, as it would be useless as a phone to the thief. Face the reality; your phone is gone and will never be returned. I'm sorry that you still must pay it off, but perhaps look into insurance for you next phone.

It appears that you do not understand that Apple does not get involved with lost or stolen phones.

What happens if you......

Log on to https://www.icloud.com/find

Enter your Apple Account (formerly known as Apple ID)

Enter your Apple Account Password

If you see a message that Device Not Found, you did not enable Find My on your iPhone.....before.....it was stolen. In this case, you will not be able to locate the phone online. The only way to find the phone will be to physically look for it.

If you see a message that the iPhone is Offline, there are several reasons why this might occur. Post back for more details if you see a message that the iPhone is Offline.

Re: “Find My only works if the phone is pinged by other iDevices”

That’s Find My Network, which can work even when the phone is turned off, as long as it has battery power.

The main Find My mechanism requires the phone to be turned on, and to have a cellular or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet. It doesn’t rely on other iDevices being nearby, but thieves can block it using Faraday cages (no fault of Apple’s; that is just physics).

Note that stolen phones are rarely recovered. If you did see a location, what would you do with it - go there yourself to confront the criminals in person, and possibly lose a lot more than just a phone?

The tracking feature of Find My is mainly useful for phones that are merely lost - not stolen. But the Activation Lock is useful in fighting thieves. The more that thieves learn that stolen iPhones tend to turn into useless “bricks”, the less likely they are to steal iPhones in the first place.

And assuming that you were using a passcode that the thieves did not know and cannot easily guess, it would help to protect your data even before the phone learned that you had placed it into Lost Mode.

Review my case urgently,

what case? Your device has been stolen. While no doubt an inconveniente to you, there is little to be done other than to file a police report.

2. Provide proper assistance in tracking my stolen device,

your have proper assistance. Findmy is indeed the only way to track a device. See https://support.apple.com/en-us/101593. Even if you track it, you are not going to confront the their.

3. Suggest any additional steps that Apple can take from their side to support such cases.
