iCloud / email lockout issues.. HELP!!!

I have an IPhone 15 Pro. Been an IPhone user for 25 years. It has become increasingly difficult to delete files as everything goes to the stupid ICloud . My ICloud is connected to an email address I haven’t used in 20 years and I can’t remember the password. When Apple wants to send me a link to change password it sends it to the non existent address and there is no option to send it to my new address. Spoke with Apple on phone and they didn’t know how to help. Anyone out there smarter than the Apple assistants???

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 26

"My Apple account currently is linked to my current email but my ICloud is full and linked to an old non existent email"

I'm afraid that's where I am getting confused. To get access to iCloud you use the same sign-in information that you use to get access to everything else to do with your account. There is no separate email address for iCloud.

You have one email address that is your user ID for your Apple Account. As for other addresses, there's the notification/rescue address I mentioned previously. Those are the only two possibilities for addresses of which I know. It appears that you have not been keeping your account information up to date and you will now have to try account recovery. This is designed to help people who are using two factor authentication. If you are still using Security Questions then you will have to transition to two factor authentication, although that too will require you be able to convince Apple you are the account owner.

- "Account recovery is a process designed to get you back into your Apple ID account when you don’t have enough information to reset your password." "If you use two-factor authentication and can’t sign in or reset your password, you can regain access after an account recovery waiting period."

-Apple recommends that if you temporarily do not have access to a way to receive a code, you just wait until you do have access to a method. Account Recovery might take at least that long.

-“Contacting Apple can’t help speed up the process.”
