F1 streaming issue using fireTV

having issues watching pre-recorded playback F1 coverage on fireTV, starts to play then stutters and causes FireTV to reboot. I have attempted online troubleshooting tips, nothing remedies issue. Works fine on iPhone.

iPhone SE, iOS 26

I possibly found a bit of a band aid. In the F1 portion of the Apple TV app, at the bottom, is sky sports parallel coverage of the same Grand Prix events. I was able to add those events to my watch list. My sole test case so far, “FP3,” came up and was viewable without any issues after it was over. We will see if the rest of the events “record” as well. The only issue is that you have to select each one discretely vs. Apple TVs coverage, where you can select one and all activities will be saved into your watchlist.

Hopefully Apple TV is monitoring this issue and finding a bug fix, because I reported the issue to FireTV and they said it’s caused by the Apple TV app….

Will follow up with feedback on qualifying and the race vis a’ vis watching via the sky sports feeds.

I have a Fire TV Cube connected to a 4K (UHD) capable TV and several Fire TV dongles connected to lesser-capable HD TVs. The Fire TV Cube crashes immediately when attempting to stream Apple’s F1 4K programming. Other 4K programs on the Apple service stream perfectly on the Cube, so there is something unique about the F1 content. I observed the same crash/reboot behavior on all F1 programming (FP1, FP2, FP3, … etc).

The Fire TV dongles have no issues with the same F1 programming. I am unsure if the difference is the type of Fire TV hardware or that the TVs that they are connected to only support HD not UHD.

Another option I'm going to try is F1 TV directly. That is now included with the Apple TV subscription and you can watch everything directly from the F1 TV site. You just need to search for "F1 TV app", register an F1 TV account, link it to your Apple TV account and then you are setup to watch on F1 TV | Home at no additional cost.

I watched Australian qualifying via the Apple TV app and was plagued by points where the video dropped to 1 frame every 2 seconds for 2-3 minutes (audio was perfect).

I'm rewatching qualifying directly on the F1 TV site and am not hitting any video glitches.

I'll give that a try. Another gripe is Watchlist is horrible in Apple TV. You have to scroll WAY down to see your list and even then it doesn't have any of the F1 items in it. I only see the Apple TV shows/movies that I added and none of the F1 episodes. They need to make Watchlist more prominent in the app (link on the left?) and show ALL items I've added.
