What is the apple disk image media shown in disk utility and can i erase it? there is 2 apple disk image media and it takes up around 50GB of my mac

Search the computer for files with the dmg extension and delete them. Since it shows as Uninitialized, it doesn't contain any useful data.

Disk image media is not a user accessible part of the computer. I don't know why Apple hasn't hidden it from view. There is nothing you can do with the image.
Can you please provide a screen shot of what you are actually seeing there in Disk Utility.

Those are not the disk image I was considering (Mac OS Base Image).
Can I safely erase Apple Disk Image Media to free up storage on my Mac?
