Emails arrive slower on iPhone than iPad

why does it take much longer to receive emails on my iphone than my ipad

Perhaps you are using a type of mailbox (such as IMAP and POP3) that does not support "push" mail - but instead requires that incoming mail is "fetched" from the Mail server.


Mail "fetch" settings are set independently for each device - from a range of potential settings:

Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data > [Fetch]
